Leap of Faith

The further down you see your church on the life cycle, the more serious the changes required. The church on the final two or three stages on the life cycle needs help from outside. The leader is not capable of doing it on his or her own.

We believe that there isn’t a church that can’t be helped as long as they want it. If a pastor and group of leaders believe for a new day, we join with them in hope saying to every church, “If you bring a team to participate in the Acts 2 Journey cohort and commit to the process, we believe we can help you.”

To go from where a church is on the life cycle to where God has called that church to be often requires a leap of faith. For key leaders in a church to make the leap of faith alongside the pastor requires the shared development and articulation of a clear, compelling vision.

Pastors and their teams must consider a couple of important questions before they decide to take the leap of faith:

1. Whose church is this? If it’s our church, then we should sit at these tables and figure out what we want to do. But if it’s God’s church, He has some ideas that He’d like to share. All too often in churches, we believe that some version of, “If it’s not spontaneous, it’s not the Holy Spirit.” Within this false framework the two alternatives become, “Will we trust God, or will we have a plan?” Instead of getting stuck choosing, why not seek God for His plan?

    

2. Do you believe that God has a plan for your church? Nearly everyone agrees that He does—you wouldn’t be participating in the process if you didn’t believe that. If you do believe God has a plan for the church, don’t you think He’d like to tell you what that plan is? As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:9-10,

"'What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”—
these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit.'

For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God."

We believe that God, by His Holy Spirit, wants to reveal plans to pastors and teams that they can’t even comprehend. We believe that we can move past the false choice between developing a plan or trusting the Holy Spirit by receiving the Holy Spirit’s plan.

When the leadership comes together on answers to these two questions and agrees to take the leap of faith, it becomes incumbent upon them to build a bridge of hope for the congregation to walk across. 

Dedique un momento para que cada persona comparta dónde ha identificado la iglesia en el ciclo de vida. Tenga en cuenta que las perspectivas pueden variar por muchas razones, y es saludable expresar las diferencias de opinión. Antes de continuar, llegue a un consenso como equipo sobre la etapa del ciclo de vida de la iglesia. 

Una vez que usted haya establecido un consenso sobre su realidad actual, veamos lo que se necesita para avanzar desde donde actualmente vemos nuestra iglesia hasta donde Dios nos está llamando. Avanzar juntos a donde Dios nos llama implica un compromiso compartido de dar un salto de fe a un nuevo ciclo de vida como equipo de liderazgo.  

Para que los líderes clave de una iglesia den el salto de fe juntamente con el pastor requiere el desarrollo compartido y la proclamación de una visión clara y convincente.  

Como equipo, debe considerar un par de preguntasimportantes antes de decidir dar el salto de fe:

La primera pregunta que se debe hacer al dar el salto de fe es: "¿De quién es esta iglesia?" Si es nuestra iglesia, entonces podemos sentarnos y averiguar lo que queremos hacer. Pero si es la iglesia de Dios, Él tiene algunas ideas que le gustaría compartir. Con mucha frecuencia en las iglesias, creemos alguna versión de: "Si no es espontáneo, no es el Espíritu Santo". Dentro de este marco falso, las dos alternativas se convierten en: "¿Confiaremos en Dios, o tendremos un plan?" En vez de quedarse detenido eligiendo, ¿por qué no buscar a Dios para conocer su plan? 

Una segunda pregunta a considerar al dar el salto de fe es: "¿Cree usted que Dios tiene un plan para su iglesia?" Casi todos están de acuerdo en que Él lo tiene, usted no estaría aquí si no lo creyera. Si usted cree que Dios tiene un plan para la iglesia, ¿no cree que Él quisiera decirle cuál es ese plan?

Creemos que Dios, por su Espíritu Santo, anhela revelar planes a su equipo que tal vez ni siquiera usted pueda comprender actualmente. 

Creemos que podemos superar la falsa elección entre desarrollar un plan o confiar en el Espíritu Santo al recibir el plan del Espíritu Santo. Recibir este plan también significa reconocer que los cambios necesarios vendrán como resultado de un proceso continuo, no un evento de una sola vez. 

Cuando su equipo se une para responder a estas dos preguntas y acepta dar el salto de fe, el siguiente paso construye un puente de esperanza para que la congregación camine.
