Metrics for Measuring Church Health

Mike Clarensau considers some metrics for measuring church health that move beyond attendance and giving.

  • The missional effectiveness metric measures attendance to conversions (the AC ratio).
  • The assimilation metric measures conversions to water baptisms (the CW ratio).
  • The kingdom growth metric measures attendance to water baptisms (the AW ratio).
  • The discipleship and mobilization metric measures Spirit baptisms to conversions (the CS ratio).
  • The reproduction metric measures attendance to Spirit baptisms (the AS ratio).

In addition to offering insights about how these metrics can provide church leaders with a clearer picture of their church's health, Dr. Clarensau explains how to calculate the metrics, along with providing numerical targets for what is considered healthy for each ratio.

Among the items available for download below is a worksheet to help you calculate these metrics in your own setting.
